About us
We are a friendly, inclusive team of speech pathologists, occupational therapist and allied health assistants, who are looking for an Early Childhood Teacher to welcome into our clinic. We enjoy problem-solving together, sharing our challenges and expertise, developing our skills and supporting each other. Our practice services children of all ages, both those with and without disabilities. We proudly support the Cairns Special Children's Christmas Party with annual sponsorship.
At Speech Plus Speech Pathology, you will work with children up to the age of 7 years, providing Early Childhood supports under the NDIS. This is a new role in our clinic and your expertise will be valued in shaping the direction it takes.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Working with children under the age of 7 years to improve their capacity for learning
- Liaising with our speech pathologists and occupational therapist to develop programs for the children to meet their individual needs
- Conducting assessments, screeners and OTher tools to identify the developmental needs of children
- Liaising with families and the child's daycare, kindergarten or school to assist their inclusion, and support their learning needs in these environments.
- Engaging in regular professional development to upskill in the areas pertaining to child development, speech pathology and occupational therapy that are relevant to your role.
About You
- You have an interest in working with children to improve their daily living skills, including communication, speech, motor skills, emotional regulation, transitions and sensory regulation.
- You value professional development and will take up opportunities to continue your learning.
- You are keen to engage in professional support team meetings, where you can get advice for your tricky cases and share professional knowledge with others.
- You are empathetic and will work with our families within a non-judgmental and supportive framework.
- You believe in applying neurodiversity-affirming principles.
- You have experience teaching children under the age of 7 years, preferably Prep and younger.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education or higher
- Registration with the QLD Board of Education
- Blue Card for Working with Children
- NDIS Worker Screening or willingness to obtain
- Right to Work in Australia
