Royal Far West School in Manly, NSW, is seeking a temporary Early Childhood/Early Stage 1 Teacher (non-teaching position). The successful candidate will be required to work off class on the SWAY Program for 2024 with the possibility of an extension. The position will be 5 days per week.

About the SWAY Program
Sounds, Words, Aboriginal Language and Yarning (SWAY) is an oral Language and early literacy program that embeds Aboriginal culture and language. SWAY is delivered in preschools and Early Stage 1 across rural and remote NSW. See website: www.sway.org.au.
The program was developed by Aboriginal Educators, Speech Pathologists, and Early Childhood Educators. SWAY has received Local, Regional and State AECG endorsements.
SWAY is a targeted and whole-class intervention program. The SWAY whole-class program is delivered by Teachers and Educators and is aligned with the targeted intervention sessions delivered by Speech Pathologists.
Community consultation is key to the delivery of the program. The SWAY team works collaboratively and is a passionate team committed to supporting students and teachers in rural and remote NSW.
The role will include but not be limited to:
- collaborating with Teachers and Educators from preschool settings and Early Stage 1 classrooms across rural and remote NSW.
- organising and facilitating the online training and mentoring of Teachers and Educators
- reflecting, evaluating and updating the existing SWAY program.
- supporting the development of localised SWAY teaching resources.
- delivering onsite SWAY Training days in rural and remote areas (SWAY training is delivered twice a year in Term 1)
Essential requirements of the role
- Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood).
- Current Teacher registration/accreditation approved by NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) or willingness to obtain.
- Experience teaching within Early Childhood settings and thorough knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF V2.0) and age-appropriate pedagogies.
- Ability to build positive and respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community members and elders.
- Willingness and skills to provide professional learning, ongoing mentoring, and specialist advice to Early Childhood Educators and Early Stage 1 Teachers for successful program implementation.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills needed to work collaboratively to foster an inclusive and supportive culture.
- An up-to-date Working with Children Check (WWCC) and children protection certificate, or willingness to obtain.
