Casuarina Steiner School is looking for a part time Early Childhood (pre-school) Learning Assistant commencing in Term 3 2024.

ABOUT THE POSITIONOur Peach Blossom class is offered to children when they are four years old and serves as a gradual and gentle transition into school life. Peach Blossom children attend school part-time, two to three days per week.
Peach Blossom is grounded in Steiner Education principles, particularly the understanding of child development, where the young child is engrossed in learning through imitation. Our Peach Blossom environment supports this by ensuring that teachers and assistants are worthy of imitation.
The Learning Assistant will work alongside the classroom Teachers as part of a cooperative team to contribute to the quality experience and education of our children based on the philosophy of Steiner Education.
THE ROLE
Early YearsLearning Assistant; three days a week (0.6FTE) beginning in Term 3 2024 for the remainder of the year.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Certificate III in Learning support or equivalent (essential).
- Experience working with children in a preschool or primary school environment (essential).
- Experience or training in working with students with learning differences and disabilities.
- Relevant Steiner training or experience working in a Steiner school (desirable).
- Relevant KLA support training such as Social Thinking, MSL, and Numeracy Intervention.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to conduct activities with children on an individual basis or with smaller groups to promote the development of physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills.
- Current NSW Working with Children Check and first aid certificate (or willing to acquire one).

Some of their responsibilities will include:
- Supporting students to follow and practice the establishment and maintenance of class routines.
- Providing in-class support for individual and small group work as directed by the teacher and/or the learning support coordinator.
- Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education/Behavior Plans and Personal Care programs.
- Performing playground supervision duties.
- Assisting teaching staff in the supervision of pupils on excursions and out of school education activities.
- Contributing to the welfare, health and safety of students including administering first aid and medications under the direction of the teacher and in compliance with correct policies and procedures.
- Participating and assisting in whole school activities.
