While the Assistant Principal, Learning and Support position is based at Leeton High School, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with schools across the Narrandera Principal Network to support students with disability and additional Learning and Support needs and their teachers. The work emphasises individual school and regional priorities and evidence-based programs to support students with additional needs. The Assistant Principal, Learning and Support also provides professional support for Learning and Support teachers through professional learning activities, network meetings and individual advice and Support. Leeton High School has an enrolment of 450 students with 15% of the student population being of Aboriginal heritage. The school has also experienced a steady increase in EAL/D enrolments in recent years.

Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach students with Learning and Support needs (primary/secondary) and/or experience teaching students with Learning and Support needs (primary/secondary) in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional Learning and Support needs and their teachers.
1. Experience in teaching students with additional Learning and Support needs (Primary/ Secondary), with a capacity to provide specialist assistance to students and their teachers.
2. Sound knowledge of the Disability Strategy including an understanding of relevant disability discrimination legislation and its impact on school practices.
3. Proven ability to promote and Support the development of effective and collaborative Learning and Support teams within schools.
4. Capacity to be strategic, provide professional learning, consultative advice and specialist assistance to schools with students with additional Learning and Support needs across primary, secondary and special school settings.
5. Ability to work collegially with the Delivery Support team to enhance inclusive practices and the learning support journey.
General Selection Criteria
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, Learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions
The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000. (Conditions apply)
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
