Economic Investment and Transition Officer

Fixed Term Full Time – until April 2025

Band 6: $91,663.12 - $99,412.18

Department: Economic Investment and Transition

The Role

As the Economic Investment and Transition Officer you will be responsible for promoting the Latrobe City economy, its products and services, pursing opportunities to promote the City as a location to live, work, visit and invest and assisting in the promotion, co-ordination and fostering of relationships between people and business of this municipality and other nations.

You will also be involved in facilitating the expansion of the regions sustainable employment capacity by attracting investment, generating enhanced infrastructure development and supporting business retention and development. Two key focus areas are the activation of the Gippsland Logistics Precinct and the development of Advanced Air Mobility at the Latrobe Regional Airport.

The role also encompasses liaison with our Sister Cities in Takasago, Japan and Taizhou, China.

You will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with some relevant experience, or alternatively, understanding of the small business sector, or relevant experience in economic or business development or other relevant field.
  • Strong customer service orientation with proven ability to engage and negotiate with stakeholders to obtain co-operation.
  • High-level problem-solving skills and the ability to use analytical reasoning to solve issues or propose recommendations to management.
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining a network of contacts to promote Latrobe as well as keep up to date with developments affecting Council, the region and local government generally.
  • Computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite, with an ability to learn other programs including electronic document management systems and GIS digital mapping system.
