About the Position
We are seeking an experienced sawmilling professional who is looking for a new challenge with a growing and progressive company. Our Sawmill Managerwill report into our Site Manager and be responsible for all production related activities at the Eden Sawmill. This includes, Sawmill operations, sawmill woodchip processing, Log yard operations (Saw Log), capital works on the EM, certification and licence compliance and any other activities related to timber production.
This is a Permanent Full-Time position which will oversee production throughput and performance, efficiency, costs, maintenance, workforce relations, labour requirements, rostering and WHSE compliance.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Develop a detailed knowledge of production capacity, capability and constraints affecting production and quality to ensure customer specifications are met.
- Maintain detailed records of production performance against product type and grade so that improvements in production performance and quality can be made.
- Monitor costs against budget and advise the Site Manager of any significant deviations.
- Manage the day-to-day employment and employee any relations issues, whilst ensuring effective performance management objectives are in place.
- Building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement business improvement by recommending production initiatives that will assist with ongoing developments.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Significant experience in a similar management role in complex production processes is essential.
- A background in sawmilling is highly desirable.
- A demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships and to effectively lead and influence team members.
- The ability to prioritise safety and promote a culture of safety amongst employees.
- Personal drive and focus on results and the continuous improvement of process.
