Please note, applicants need not necessarily possess teaching experience as the right candidate may be trained and developed through coaching, mentoring and partnering. Importance is placed on possession of the appropriate qualifications, industry experience and the right attitude.
To become a TAFE Queensland teacher, you must hold one of the following training and assessment credentials:
- TAE40116 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment;
- TAE40110 - Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills and TAEASS502 Design and Develop Assessment Tools;
- TAE50111 - Diploma of Vocational Education and Training;
- TAE50116 - Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or its successor;
- TAE50211 - Diploma of Training Design and Development;
- TAE50216 - Diploma of Training Design and Development, or its successor;
- Higher-level qualification in adult education (approved by TAFE Queensland).
Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.
Additional Mandatory Requirements
- Possession of relevant formal vocational qualifications (Certificate III minimum, Australian equivalent); and
- The ability to demonstrate a broad range of current industry skills and experience.
Salary (May 2023)
- Casual - $99.95 gross per hour (TAFE Queensland Educators’ Certified Agreement 2019)
- Foundation Educator - $58,492.18 gross per annum (TAFE Queensland Educators’ Certified Agreement 2019)
- Teacher - $81,868.18 - $92,669.14 gross per annum (TAFE Queensland Educators’ Certified Agreement 2019)
