About the Role
The EHSQ Coordinator is responsible for the provision of advice and assistance in the management of quality, health, safety and environment systems (including continuous improvement) and is responsible for the day-to-day implementation of health and safety protocols at the Newcastle Facility.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Based at Bennetts Green, Newcastle and reporting to the EHS Manager - East, the duties and responsibilities associated with this role will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain and deliver induction programs and other EHSQ training for new employees, contractors and visitors, including worksite tours;
- Coordinate hearing and respiratory testing with employees and external service provider;
- Maintaining Emergency Plans and compliance to regulatory requirements;
- Provide advice on obligations and compliance to Workplace Health and Safety Legislation;
- Liaise with SafeWork regulators as required; in conjunction with Human Resources and senior management;
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments on all equipment and activities. Prepare and maintain Work Instructions / Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS);
- Provide First Aid to injured / ill persons, arranging transport and treatment with medical professionals and assist in the RTW process;
- Conduct Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with company policies and practices;
- Conduct quality inspections and participate in quality audits as required;
- Arrange chemical, mechanical or environmental analysis with external certified laboratories and maintain reports;
- Implement environmental improvement initiatives;
- Assist with new product development as required;
- Compile SHEQ data and reports. Conduct data analysis to identify required focus areas;
- Undertake / lead investigations into SHEQ incidents / non-conformances to identify the root cause and implement corrective and preventative actions; and
- Coordinate EHSQ Projects as identified or agreed by the National Quality and Compliance Manager and Operations Management team.
About you
To be considered for this opportunity you will possess all the following attributes:
- Degree or tertiary qualifications in EHSQ management or relevant field;
- Experience with integrated management systems including ISO 9001.2015, ISO 14001.2015 and AS/NZS 4801.2001 and or ISO 45001.2018;
- Advanced communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills;
- Intermediate MS Office suite skills;
- Detail-oriented focus, with strong critical thinking ability;
- In depth knowledge of WHS legislation, standards and codes of practice; and
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting.
Although not essential, further consideration will be given to the following:
- Relevant Training and Assessment qualification;
- Incident Investigation experience / qualifications;
- First Aid certificate;
- Experience in a manufacturing / heavy industrial environment; and
- Knowledge of EPA / DES legislation and procedures.
