Overview:

We are currently seeking an Electrical and Instrument Maintenance Technician for a permanent opportunity covering a range of local facilities across Brisbane, Ipswich, and the Gold Coast, as well as our regional clients in Central Queensland. We seek a candidate who is trade qualified and experienced in designing and maintaining electrical control systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and possesses a strong commitment to safety. 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) electrician responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems utilising PLC technology. A deep understanding of PLC programming, electrical circuits, and industrial automation is required for this role, with a focus on ensuring the efficient operation of equipment controlled by PLCs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation and Configuration: Install and configure PLC systems according to project specifications, including mounting hardware, wiring electrical connections, and programming controllers for optimal functionality.
  2. Routine Maintenance and optimisation: Conduct regular maintenance checks to optimise PLC performance, including hardware inspection, software updates, and sensor/actuator calibration, ensuring uninterrupted functionality.
  3. Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Utilise advanced diagnostic tools and electrical diagrams to identify and rectify faults in PLC systems promptly, addressing hardware malfunctions, software errors, or communication failures efficiently.
  4. Program Development and Modification: Develop and modify PLC programs using various programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, function block diagrams) to control processes, monitor inputs/outputs, and enforce safety protocols effectively.
  5. Integration of Electrical Systems: Integrate PLCs with other electrical systems, facilitating seamless communication between PLCs and peripheral devices for coordinated operation, ensuring system compatibility and efficiency.
  6. Adherence to Safety Standards: Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and standards during all electrical and PLC-related activities, implementing necessary safety measures to prevent accidents and mitigate risks.
  7. Comprehensive Documentation: Maintain detailed records of PLC installations, maintenance activities, and programming changes, including wiring diagrams and troubleshooting procedures, for future reference and compliance purposes.
  8. Training and Support Provision: Provide comprehensive training and technical support to maintenance staff, apprentices, and operators involved in PLC operations, sharing expertise and knowledge to enhance their skill level and ensure proficient team performance.

Requirements:

  1. Hold a current Queensland electrical licence with instrumentation qualifications (Certificate III Electrical Instrumentation & Control).
  2. Candidates must reside within a 75-km radius of Marburg, QLD 4346.
  3. A QLD Electrical licence is mandatory, with instrumentation skills and qualifications.
  4. Desirable tickets include Confined Space and Working at Heights, First Aid, LVR & CPR, Breathing Apparatus, and Gas Test Atmosphere.
  5. Construction white card or equivalent is required.

The following will be considered desirable, however not mandatory:

  • Experienced in water and wastewater treatment.
  • A current Coal Board medical.
  • Standard 11.
