- Permanent part-time: 0.4 EFT
- Location: from the MCMC office (hybrid working available)
- You’re passionate about our environment, and the important role that community-focused and supported organisations have in protecting and restoring significant environmental assets.
- You are experienced in Environmental Planning processes, understand relevant legislation, and can prepare submissions and engage others in the process.
- You have extensive knowledge of the Merri Creek and its tributaries and environs, and the community that supports and lives along the creek.
- You love working collaboratively with a range of community, First Nations, government, and non-government stakeholders through engagement processes that connect, inspire, and motivate. You know how to work effectively with colleagues and engage supporters, donors, and the Merri community.
- You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and are experienced in writing high quality strategic documents for a range of audiences.
- You’re creative and show initiative in the way you spot opportunities and make things happen. You can be flexible in the way you work and identify and follow opportunities. You can manage projects from start to finish, working independently, representing MCMC, and working with external consultants and researchers, and our engaged community of supporters.

- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Conservation Management Planning, or a related discipline, combined with relevant experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage importance to the Merri Creek and its tributaries.
- High level written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrated experience of preparing Environmental Planning submissions, responses to EPBC referrals, and participating in Precinct Structure Planning and other related Environmental Planning processes.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing projects, with the ability to set clear priorities, delegate, and foster a positive culture.
- Demonstrated understanding of the history of community activism, advocacy, and on-ground works undertaken by the community along the Merri Creek and its environs.
