The Role
Primary tasks of the Environmental Manager include:

• Lead the Environmental Impact Assessment for ADF Exercises;
• Lead, manage and collaborate with training areas, community engagement and environmental governance stakeholders;
• Develop Exercise Environmental Risk Assessments;
• Develop and manage the Community Consultation and Stakeholder Engagement Plan; and
• Lead the Environmental Impact Assessment for ADF Exercises.

Secondary tasks include:

• Deliver environmental management activities in accordance with Defence environmental policies, procedures and relevant legislation;
• Monitor and deliver Defence’s environmental and estate management programs and systems;
• Understand and implement Defence’s environmental legislative obligations to ensure compliance with Defence’s environmental management responsibilities;
• Identify environmental management required on Defence estates in order to align with Defence's obligations, policies or management plans;
• Facilitate and build relationships with stakeholders in order to represent and communicate Defence’s environmental requirements, policies and activities;
• Work collaboratively within a team environment in order to deliver Defence environmental objectives;
• Employ sound and informed judgement and provide advice on environmental management issues;
• Analyse, prioritise and initiate improvements to business practices to further Defence’s environmental policy objectives; and
• Understand and act on environmental risk factors as they apply to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.

About our Team
The Joint Collective Training Branch (JCTB) has primary responsibility for: planning and executing allocated joint and combined training activities; providing simulation support to designated Defence exercises and activities; and enterprise-wide simulation product governance and coordination. The JCTB comprises a diverse team of military and civilian Defence personnel and contractors, applying and promoting simulation and relevant technology to support Defence exercises and training. JCTB works across a broad stakeholder group to deliver Defence’s joint training outcomes
