Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.
A new role awaits
We are looking for a driven, talented and motivated leader to join our Actuarial Insights and Monitoring ⁠⁠(AIM) Branch as an EL1 Actuary, in the Analytics, Data and Actuarial Division within the Enabling Services/Chief Finance Office Group.
The Actuarial Insights and Monitoring (AIM) Branch is an integral part of the Analytics, Data, and Actuarial Division, focusing on continuous monitoring and reporting on Scheme performance against key metrics. Our reports are distributed to key stakeholders, including Disability Ministers, to ensure transparency and informed decision-making.
The EL1 Actuary (Professional Stream) will oversee and guide the activities of the team and contractors, ensuring alignment with the organisations objectives. The role demands the ability to tackle complex challenges and problems, making informed decisions and providing high-level policy advice and operational support.
Professional Stream Mandatory Qualifications: For applications in the professional job stream, the successful applicant must possess and maintain relevant academic qualifications with membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or other equivalent professional finance bodies (or holding equivalent finance related post graduate qualifications).

The EL1 Actuary (Professional Stream) role is a pivotal leadership position that carries significant responsibilities and authority. The individual in this role will be entrusted with addressing complex issues and risks across a broad spectrum of activities within the Actuarial Insights and Monitoring function. Key responsibilities include:
Providing leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management, and decision-making for the team members and contractors within the work area
Engaging in intricate problem-solving and managing complex issues within the Actuarial Insights and Monitoring functions
Leading and managing detailed or sensitive projects that involve multiple processes and methods, potentially impacting strategic or operational outcomes that support the NDIAs aim of establishing a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme.

While this role is ideally performed from NSW Surry Hills, VIC Richmond, VIC Dandenong, SA Blair Athol, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 18 months may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
