Seeking an EL1 Assistant Director who can manage the agency's financial statements and audit process and assist in the day-to-day financial matters.
EL1 Assistant Director, Financial Reporting- Initial contract starts 18 March 2024
- Initial contract ranges from 6 to 12 months
- Australian citizenship is required
About the role:
- Manage the effective planning and coordination of the financial statements audit process.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to support Financial Reporting and compliance requirements.
- Provide advice on accounting standards and other compliance requirements (across taxation and other financial legislation).
- Support activities of the finance function.
- Ensure completion of the monthly financial information and actively manage the completion of year-end financial statements.
- Provide support across the agency to improve their financial management capabilities (through business partnering approaches and improving training and procedural documentation); and provide strategic advice on agency’s financial related matters.
- Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed from time to time.
- CA or CPA qualified with a minimum three years’ experience in a Financial Reporting/financial statement audit role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of public sector financial management and budgeting frameworks and APS Employment Frameworks.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in Commonwealth Financial Frameworks and compliance.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, providing client focussed services.
- Sound knowledge and experience in successfully managing and delivering results within time restraints and with competing priorities.
- Proven ability to communicate with influence, negotiate outcomes and manage complex stakeholder relationships, including across a geographically dispersed network.
- Proven conceptual and analytical abilities with sound knowledge of change management practices and techniques to enable innovation.
- Demonstrated personal drive and integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and budget parameters.
- Experience in the use of TechOne.
- Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.
