Seeking an EL1 Assistant Director who can manage the agency's financial statements and audit process and assist in the day-to-day financial matters.

EL1 Assistant Director, Financial Reporting

• Initial contract starts 18 March 2024
• Initial contract ranges from 6 to 12 months
• Australian citizenship is required

Our Federal Government client is seeking an EL1 Assistant Directorwho can manage the agency’s financial statements and audit process and assist in the day-to-day matters relating to financial accounting.
About the role:

• Manage the effective planning and coordination of the financial statements audit process.
• Establish and maintain internal controls to support Financial Reporting and compliance requirements.
• Provide advice on accounting standards and other compliance requirements (across taxation and other financial legislation).
• Support activities of the finance function.
• Ensure completion of the monthly financial information and actively manage the completion of year-end financial statements.
• Provide support across the agency to improve their financial management capabilities (through business partnering approaches and improving training and procedural documentation); and provide strategic advice on agency’s financial related matters.
• Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed from time to time.

Ideally, you will have:

• CA or CPA qualified with a minimum three years’ experience in a Financial Reporting/financial statement audit role.
• Demonstrated knowledge of public sector financial management and budgeting frameworks and APS Employment Frameworks.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience in Commonwealth Financial Frameworks and compliance.
• Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, providing client focussed services.
• Sound knowledge and experience in successfully managing and delivering results within time restraints and with competing priorities.
• Proven ability to communicate with influence, negotiate outcomes and manage complex stakeholder relationships, including across a geographically dispersed network.
• Proven conceptual and analytical abilities with sound knowledge of change management practices and techniques to enable innovation.
• Demonstrated personal drive and integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and budget parameters.

Desirable:

• Experience in the use of TechOne.
• Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.
