The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian. 

A new role awaits

We have an amazing opportunity for an EL1 Assistant Director (Professional Stream) to join our Technical Advice and Practice Improvement Branch.

This Branch is part of the Operations and Support Division and is responsible for providing specialist technical, clinical, and operational advice in relation to complex cases and support requests. 

Where you can add value

You will possess strong strategic communication and engagement skills and be able to demonstrate your strength as a leader. You will spend your day:   

  • providing leadership and management of staff within reporting teams and supporting the Director Technical Advisory
  • managing team-specific key deliverables that will include timely responses to requests, maintaining and increasing customer and stakeholder satisfaction, undertaking detailed analysis of performance against Key Performance Indicators and initiating procedural changes as required
  • providing high quality Health and Allied Health clinical and technical expertise to a range of customers and stakeholders to achieve improved outcomes 
  • supporting Technical Advisors to consider creative solutions to drive participant outcomes

To be eligible to occupy this Professional Stream position you are required to perform certain duties that the CEO decides that your skills, qualifications, and experience are essential or appropriate for entry.

You will need to possess relevant academic qualifications with currency of accreditation and membership with Professional Peak Bodies. All officers must be registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or be a member under Allied Health Professional Australia (AHPA), together with extensive professional clinical experience in health, allied health or disability sectors.

While this role is ideally performed from Perth, Parramatta, Darwin, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Geelong, Richmond or Deakin, other remote working locations may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered. 

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
