EL1-EL2 Education Advisor
The Development Advisory Services (DVS) is looking to engage an Education Adviser, in order to continue the provision of technical support for Department desks and posts across the Indo-Pacific, and actively support the technical education capability strengthening of staff at posts and in Canberra.
The Education Adviser will provide intellectual leadership, capability strengthening where applicable, policy and programming advice for education.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide high quality and responsive technical assistance that supports and improves the quality and effectiveness of Department investments and future programming.
- Reviewing and/or develop program concepts, designs and implementation meeting documents.
- Providing general or policy advice or strategic direction, supporting policy coherence and embedding best practice, underpinned by evidence.
- Representing the department at relevant meetings, engaging in policy dialogue and negotiating positions with external stakeholders including whole-of-government partners, government counterparts overseas, NGOs, contractors and other education partners.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Understanding the geopolitics of the Indo-Pacific region, particularly Pacific and/or Southeast Asia, and the intersection with Australia’s interests and objectives.
- Intellectual leadership, policy and programming advice on education in relevant sub-sectors.
- Delivery of bilateral, regional and multilateral education programs in developing countries.
