The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.A new role awaitsThe Fraud Intelligence and Investigations branch are seeking a professional with highly developed technical expertise and confident communication skills for the role of EL2 Forensic Accountant (Professional Stream).The Branch detects and responds to payment fraud against the Scheme and focuses on protecting the Scheme’s financial sustainability, strengthening fraud control arrangements and supporting the Fraud Fusion Taskforce to strengthen the Commonwealth’s fraud detection and response capability.Where you can add value The EL2 Forensic Accountant, will lead a face to face and virtual team, conducting all aspects of forensic accounting for serious and complex fraud investigation matters, including those involving multiple identities, or joint investigation with other agencies. They will be the backbone of the investigations team, building capability and function and promoting the team.Responsibilities of the role may include, but are not limited to:
  • Presenting the results of financial analysis and information obtained from witnesses in admissible formats to support prosecution and proceeds of crime action. This may involve representing the Agency and giving evidence as an expert witness in criminal and civil court.
  • Leading the development of policy and procedures for the conduct of financial analysis related to intelligence, investigation, and debt determination within the Agency.
  • Partnering with key stakeholders including the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, briefing counsel and law enforcement agencies.

This position is within the professional job stream. To be eligible to occupy this position you are required to perform certain duties that the CEO decides that your skills, qualifications and experience are essential or appropriate for entry.The successful candidate must possess relevant academic qualifications with membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) or other equivalent professional finance bodies (or holding equivalent finance related post graduate qualifications); together with extensive direct finance experience performing and delivering complex financial and governance outcomes.In addition, the successful candidate will be technically skilled, and a highly confident speaker and communicator, energetic and able to hit the ground running. They should be well versed in Excel, able to gather and utilise data from wide ranging spreadsheets, with an eye for detail.

While this role is ideally performed from ACT – Deakin, NSW – Surry Hills, QLD – Brisbane, VIC – Richmond, remote working arrangements may be considered.
