ASC SA Apprenticeship Program

Want to secure an exciting apprenticeship role in the defence industry?

ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

  • Fabrication
  • Mechanical

What makes a successful apprentice?

  • Strengths in STEM studies and/or Trade Studies;
  • Verifiable work experience (paid or unpaid) detailed in your resume;
  • Completion of a Certificate II in a relevant trade study (not mandatory).

Overall, you’ll need a strong commitment to safety, passion for your desired trade and a willingness to adapt quickly and learn new things.

Successful applicants will be required to obtain an Australian Defence security clearance, which will involve a national police clearance and proof of citizenship.

The expected commencement for our successful apprentices will be in January 2025. The date will be confirmed closer to the time and will be subject to operational availabilities.
