Role Overview
Reporting to the Lead Designer within the Sydney Substation Design team, this role will see you responsible for the production of detailed electrical layout drawings for Zone and Sub Transmission Substations throughout the Ausgrid network. You will be a member of a collaborative multidiscipline team in designing new major substations, as well as replacing/upgrading existing substation components.
- Work closely with Primary Design Engineers in the development and ultimate issuing of design solutions for construction. Using your previous experience and initiative you will be wholly responsible for certain elements of the overall design solution.
- Responsibility for the development and coordination of detailed electrical design drawings for substation high voltage systems meeting time, cost & quality constraints.
- Minimisation of safety hazards within the resultant design solutions through the consideration of safety throughout the design process.
Selection Criteria
- Post electrical trade qualifications, preferably Advanced Diploma of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent.
- Advanced Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) skills using AutoCAD and/or Microstation, and related software tools such as Revit and Vault.
- Extensive experience in the design and drafting of HV electrical substations and components. (Preferably 3 – 5 years)
- Proven ability to complete detailed design as a team member under direction and as an individual with direct responsibility for the design.
- Familiar with the apparatus and equipment used on the Sub-transmission and Distribution networks and the design philosophies employed.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and standard Engineering Drafting practices.
- Able to interpret design drawings from other disciplines such as Civil, Structural and Secondary Systems.
