Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate two open cut and three underground metallurgical coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin, every year producing millions of tonnes of the highest quality hard coking coal for this purpose.Job DescriptionReporting to the Coal Clearance Superintendent, you will be responsible for all aspects relating to the electrical engineering of the mine's Coal Clearance System and underground services infrastructure.Key Responsibilities Include:
- Ensuring that assets are designed, installed and maintained to standard in a safe, fit-for-purpose and cost-effective manner.
- Ensuring legislative compliance of Coal Clearance and other underground infrastructure, and adherence to AASMC Policies, standards, systems and practices.
- Providing electrical engineering and leadership for the mines Coal Clearance Installation crews.
- Providing strong strategic thinking and planning skills, project management and interpersonal skills.
- Leading the continuous improvement process for electrical design, installation and maintenance standards for Coal Clearance and underground services at the mine.
- Tertiary qualifications / Trade qualifications in engineering with at least two years' experience post degree at an underground coal mine in a similar role.
- EEHA Competencies and Supervisor qualifications (S1, S2, and S3) are required, additional EEM qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Your well-developed understanding of installation, commissioning and maintenance requirements along with your demonstrated ability to problem solve and motivate a team to perform will be crucial to your success in the role.
- Proficient use of AutoCAD, Microsoft suite, SAP and Project / Asset management tools.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the ZERO Harm philosophy with experience in delivering safety improvements and efficiencies.
- A high-level understanding of regulatory standards will be required to ensure statutory compliance for electrical activities.
