Due to growth in the business, we are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with proven experience in the defence industry to join our Adelaide team.
The Design Engineer will produce drawings and designs as per client standards and design guidelines in coordination with other Lead Engineers and Project Managers. The Designer will be responsible for working with project team members including lead project engineers and drafters to complete the design.
Duties will include:
- Reading and interpreting requirements specifications, standards, technical drawings and scope of works to produce detailed electrical design and drawings in accordance with requirements.
- Development of concept and detailed designs and delegation of design requirements to a Drafter.
- Undertake engineering design calculations.
- Involvement in complete design process from requirements analysis and development through design processes to testing and validation.
- Development of detailed engineering documentation including design reports, requirements traceability, test plans/procedures/reports and ILS documentation.
- Responsible for the on-time delivery of the allocated work schedules.
- Ensure the safety of designs through application of specialist expertise, standards, reviews, risk assessments and risk management.
- Work within a team to deliver results within allocated time, budget, and quality constraints.
- Familiarisation with client design standards and ability to translate requirements into a workable design solution.
Desired skills and experience:
- Electrical Engineering Degree with 5-10 years' experience in electrical design of Automation and Control Systems is preferred.
- Prior defence experience.
- Strong control systems experience and familiarity with PLC wiring diagrams and network interfaces.
- Previous experience with systems safety and reliability analysis techniques including hazard analysis and documentation in hazard logs, system MTBF calculations and FMEA will be well regarded.
- Understanding of AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and Electrical Regulations.
- Understand electrical wiring and panel building based on ELV and LV designs.
- Switchboard / Control Panel design and manufacturing experience will be an advantage.
- Excellent computer skills and written/verbal communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Understanding of multidiscipline requirements.
- Due to the nature of this role you will need to be an Australian Citizen.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Commonwealth Security Clearance.
