One of Australia’s largest electrical & communications contractors is looking to engage the services of an Estimator to join its New Business team.
Working across several disciplines such as High Voltage, Security, Communications and Low Voltage reticulation, this role provides the opportunity be part of the design and pricing phase of a project as well as contract negotiation and hand over to the delivery team.
You will need to demonstrate an understanding of High & Low Voltage reticulation systems; knowledge of Security and Communications systems would be advantageous.
Open to the level of industry experience, we are seeking either a Junior estimator with great ambition and passion to learn or a Senior Estimator who is looking to work on Tier 1 projects.
The Ideal Applicant Would Present With The Following Attributes:
- A Grade Electrical Licence
- Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator or similar role
- Strong knowledge of AS/NZS 3000
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and drawings
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to deal with clients in a professional manner
- Proficient computer and software skills, specifically in Microsoft Office suite and Estimating Software (required)
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express complex ideas in a simply understood manner
- Ability to collaborate well with others, fostering positive and friendly working relationships across the team and providing support to colleagues as needed
- Ideally you will be positive, self-motivated, goal orientated with strong team work skills and a 'can do' attitude.
- A thorough understanding of electrical, communications, security systems and installation methods in Commercial, medical, industrial, and residential projects.
The Role:
As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for estimating the costs and materials required for electrical projects, analysing project specifications and drawings, and collaborating with clients and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive estimates. You will also provide support to the project management team and contribute to the overall success of electrical projects.
- You will be joining a team of 2 other experience estimators.
- This role will involve providing quantity take-off and estimating support for various projects, developing and maintaining standard estimating processes, and ensuring accurate and efficient proposals.
- Develop and submit competitive bids that align with company objectives and client expectations.
- Identify risks and opportunities within the tendering process, ensuring the impact on the tender price is documented and quantified;
- Generate scope of works statement to clearly define what works are included / excluded from estimation
- Utilise operational understanding to problem solve whilst providing “best value” tender responses;
- Identify potential commercial advantages, opportunities and problems in the tendering process and communicating findings with relevant stakeholders;
- Liaise with live projects to ensure you have an up to date view of current costs;
- Analyse tender requirements and assess plans, specifications and project designs.
- Cultivate strong connections with primary clients, subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Engage in tender reviews alongside management.
- Participate in meetings with internal technical specialists to gather data for tender preparations.
- Sustain communication with suppliers and subcontractors to secure pricing and materials for tender submissions.
- Stay updated with advancements in products and systems.
Remuneration and package will be developed depending on abilities and experience.
