Fortescue Hydrogen Systems, Product Development team are seeking a motivated individual to join our fast paced and high performing team as an E&I Technician. The Product Development team currently operate hydrogen process plants and hydrogen generating test stands that operate continuously (24/7) to obtain data that influences design and assists with commercialisation of our products.
Reporting to the Operations & Maintenance Supervisor, the Mon – Fri E&I Technician will be tasked with handling all Electrical & instrument works in support of our operations technicians (both E&I and mechanical) who will be on a 24/7 shift rotation. This may include unplanned maintenance (breakdown) support. This role will also include all workshop Electrical & instrument works - not just in process plant areas, but in various laboratories across site and anywhere else in the facility requiring E&I support. Tasks may include construction, commissioning, maintenance, function testing, EEHA inspections and rectification works. Working in a research and development facility, you will require the ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities which your experience and attitude will hold you in good stead for.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction support for new installations and upgrades to our hydrogen process plants and test stands
- Commissioning support of those upgrades in preparation for handover to operations
- Assist with planning of construction upgrades across the facility including liaising with key stakeholders from other departments and contractors
- Bench testing of instrumentation including record keeping of any calibration performed prior to entering it into service in our operational plants
- Supporting on-shift operators in a specialist capacity during unplanned maintenance or breakdown scenarios to keep our plants operating safely
- Executing maintenance campaigns including EEHA inspections on our plants and all maintenance activities around our large facility
- Supporting various divisions on site with their electrical and instrumentation requirements including construction, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and maintenance
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ construction, commissioning & maintenance experience in a hazardous process plant environment in industries such as oil & gas, power generation, chemical processing etc.
- E&I Trade (WA Electrical licence, Cert III/IV Instrumentation)
- Strong electrical and instrumentation experience - specifically in being able to maintain, repair, calibrate and rebuild electrical and instrumentation equipment that is critical for hydrogen processing systems.
- Strong construction skills with sound knowledge of Australian standards for installations
- Cert IV in EEHA Inspection & Maintenance
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and familiarity with SAP, MS Office Suite and computerised maintenance management systems
