Jayco Corporation Pty Ltd is the largest manufacturer of recreational vehicles in Australia and New Zealand. Due to continued growth, we are currently seeking a qualified and competent Electrical Systems Lead to join our team. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to lead the design, development and integration of electrical and electronic systems, into new and existing Motorhomes and Campervans within the Jayco Product portfolio. This role requires a thorough understanding of second stage compliance and ADR’s, so that design conformity and regulatory requirements are met.
As part of the design function, the role is responsible for the electrical system layout, specification of components, prototyping, and system validation/testing. A strong focus is also placed on manufacturing integration of electrical system designs, identification and resolution current product issues, validated for improved performance, cost and mass reduction as well as production efficiencies.
The key duties of this position will include the following:
- Design and project manage delivery of customer focused engineered solutions that are cost effective and optimised for manufacture and assembly.
- Ensure that designs and process comply with relevant Electrical Australian Standards.
- Conduct and validate root cause on product issues and develop/ implement and monitor corrective actions.
- Support release & maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures for use in a production environment.
- Develop and maintain Bill of Materials for electrical components.
- Be the subject matter expert for electrical design and provide technical support across the organisation.
- Creation and management of product data including CAD data, specifications, design intent and engineering change notices.
- Create and maintain various, simplified wiring diagrams for manufacturing, service, and dealerships.
- Ensure supplier technical guidelines are rolled out into Jayco’s processes.
The successful candidate must have:
- A qualification in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years’ industry experience.
- Strong understanding of relevant electrical standards and regulations – including AS/NZS 3001.2:2022.
- A working knowledge of electrical design for Extra Low Voltage and Low Voltage systems and ideally some experience with trailers, and/or recreational vehicles.
- Excellent project management skills.
- AutoCAD and preferably some SolidWorks experience.
- MS Visio knowledge is an advantage.
- MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
