Gilmour Space is the leading Australian rocket company, pioneering next-generation hybrid propulsion technologies for small satellite launch vehicles.

As part of the Launch Vehicle Operations team, you will support final testing and integration of launch vehicle stages and the execution of launch operations at our orbital launch site in Bowen, Queensland. You will also support the conduct of propulsion tests on liquid bi-propellant engines, hybrid rocket engines, electric pump feed systems, and all associated sub-systems. In this role you will collaborate closely with engineering to execute test plans, deliver upgrades and maintenance to data acquisition and control systems on propulsion test stands, and implement improvements to enhance the reliability and performance of various launch vehicle systems.

How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:

The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do.

  • Install or modify launch vehicle power electronics and avionics
  • Install or modify instrumentation and industrial data acquisition and control systems on test stands Work closely with engineers to assemble prototype products based on schematic diagrams, and accurately mark and report changes when instructions vary.
  • Perform electrical manufacturing tasks such as PCB soldering, and harness builds with a high standard of quality
  • Conduct and record product tests and diagnostic activities to support the production or fault-finding process
  • Complete minor fabrication tasks for the build or installation of electrical enclosures which may require manual handling and the use of power tools
  • Other duties as requested by Management

Mandatory Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills - Avionics
  • 3+ years of experience in a high reliability and quality manufacturing operating environment, ideally within the space / aerospace industry
  • Extensive knowledge of avionics and electrical systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Have a passion for advancing the commercial space industry

  • Knowledge of temperature, pressure, and flow measurement devices, mechanical and electrical systems, and propulsion systems
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with engineering and production teams
  • Ability to rapidly adapt to changes in role and responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred
