We are in ramp up stage which means multiple opportunities to join others as you and the team embark on pivotal journey for our local community and state as an Electrical Fitter or Electrician. We have three roster options for these full-time positions (36 hours/week) being; 

  1. Day shift - Monday to Thursday 7:00am – 4:30pm (4 days, totally 36 hours/week)
  2. Day shift - Tuesday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:30pm (4 days, totally 36 hours/week)
  3. Afternoon shift - Monday to Thursday 4:00pm -1:30am (4 days, totally 36 hours/week) (initially 1 year contract)

Reporting to one of our Production Supervisors, this role would see you perform all Electrical installations to complete the assembly of the train, where no day will be the same, but you will have plenty of opportunities to progress through the levels if you wish.  We are excited about the opportunity to create more job opportunities within our local Ballarat community and are seeking interest from individuals who hold either a Certificate III in Electrical (Electrical Fitter) or Certificate III in Electrotechnology – Electrician.

Duties will include:

  • Read, apply technical documentation supplied.
  • Install and assemble railway vehicle components using standard work procedures, hand & power tools.
  • Perform basic testing and support troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical systems and components installed in the railway car.
  • Use and manipulate lifting and transporting devices such as overhead cranes to install, replace and align subassemblies and components.
  • Perform self-Inspection of railway car components in order to identify defects and ensure quality.
  • Remove and replace defective parts and components.
  • Proficiently cross reference technical documents and highlight any discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Work closely with support functions to identify and propose suggestions for continuous improvement.
  • Organize work instruction documents, tools and railway car parts daily.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certificate III in Electrical (Electrical Fitter) or Certificate III in Electrotechnology – Electrician.
  • Experience within the manufacturing environment would be advantageous
  • Ability to be able to interpret technical diagrams & drawings
  • High risk tickets or licences (EWP, working at heights etc) would be advantageous (but not mandatory)
