We are seeking an Innovative Embedded Software Engineer to join our dynamic team at Fortescue in Redcliffe, WA. Key Responsibilities- Joining a versatile software team in developing a world-first product for the rail industry.
- Designing hardware and software architectures for distributed and real-time systems.
- Fostering a culture focused on quality and continuous improvement.
- Contributing to the development and integration of standards, workflows, and best practices.
- Collaborating closely with product owners and system leads to formalize system-level requirements and specifications.
- Informing project scoping, planning, and budgeting.
- Experience in software development for real-time and distributed systems in industrial applications, e.g., mining, marine, rail, or road transport.
- Proficiency in embedded systems and C/C++ programming.
- Understanding of software architecture design in distributed systems.
- Knowledge of network communications and protocols.
- Experience in utilizing software deployment strategies.
- Familiarity with operating systems deployed in industrial edge computing, such as QNX, SafeRTOS, or Linux.
- Skills relating to the full software development life cycle (documentation, requirements, testing, traceability).
- Experience with software version control systems like Git or SVN is essential.
- Knowledge of model-based design and development using MathWorks products (Simulink, Stateflow) is an advantage.
- Experience with Functional Safety Rail SIL1, SIL2 rated software development is advantageous (EN50128 or equivalent).
