The Health Service/Hospital:
This hospital is has an average of 15,000 Emergency attendances per year and has two resuscitation beds and seven cubicles. This hospital also has Fast Track for low acuity GP – type presentation. Nursing staff and registrars will do the majority of the management.
Emergency patients attending the Emergency Department are given high priority and are not to wait for long periods. If time exceeds two hours the unit manager at the time is under instructions to notify the Duty Doctor and Director of Medical Services and if extra assistance is needed then it is provided.
This hospital is part of a healthcare group which has an approximate budget of $87 million. This health care group is a leading rural health service providing allied, acute, subacute, primary and residential aged care in the Grampians region of Victoria.
