Casual – Minimum 8-16hrs per week
We are seeking an experienced veterinary nurse to join our amazing team for overnight shifts. We are open every weeknight, weekend and public holiday. The position, currently, is for overnight shifts only, with a chance to pick up extra shifts.
About Us
North Coast Emergency Vets are a small family-owned emergency vet clinic. We are located a short 15-minute drive from Byron Bay in the beautiful township of Bangalow in the industrial estate. We share our premises with Bangalow Vets.
What we are looking for
- Experienced and passionate vet nurse (minimum of 4 years’ experience)
- A ‘can do’ attitude
- Willingness to learn and adopt protocols
- Proven ability to work within a team environment
- Possess excellent phone manner and communication skills
- Be compassionate, and have an easy going yet professional attitude
- Have a drive for education and ongoing training
- Confidence in your nursing ability
- Work autonomously with exceptional time management skills
- Participated in emergency surgeries such as GDV and ex-lap (desirable)
- Experience with snake envenomation and tick patients (desirable)
Nursing duties will include but not limited to
- Reception duties such as answering calls, money handling, registration of new clients
- Triaging patients as they present to the clinic
- Place IV catheters, blood collections and pathology testing using IDEXX and Abaxis pathology machines
- Carrying out initial orders by veterinarian
- Prepare and set up for surgery
- Monitoring patients during anaesthesia, ventilation and oxygen support
- Assisting in imaging such as ultrasound and radiography
- Preparing and administering medications
- Maintaining hospital hygiene and cleanliness
All About you
The successful candidate will possess:
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, or Bachelor of Applied Science major in Veterinary Technology
- Minimum 4 years of nursing experience (ECC experience desired but not essential)
- The ability to participate in a roster with set nights. We are, however, flexible with the nights and roster in general.
