The Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) Emergency Department (ED) is open 24 hours, seven days a week. It is the obstetric trauma centre for South Australia and a designated state trauma centre, as well as an ACEM accredited Mixed and Paediatric ED. The FMC ED is one of the busiest in South Australia, with approximately 85,000 - 90,000 attendances per year from newborn to geriatrics.
About the Role:
As the Emergency Physician, you will provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to Emergency Department patients at Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Health Services. You will engage as part of a high performing multi-disciplinary team who prides themselves on teamwork, communication and excellence in Emergency Care. You will utilise your experience and knowledge to provide vital supervision, support and education to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers, Medical Students in the Unit, as well as other staff training within Southern Adelaide Local Health Network. You will work along side a wide range of highly regarded FACEMs/PEMs who have a depth of expertise in Trauma, Paediatrics, Research, Well-being, Leadership and Training.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent;
- Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist; registration (Emergency Medicine); or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award;
- Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff;
- Demonstrated participation in approved continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification;
- Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in an ED; and
- Excellent Team work and Communication skills.
