We are currently recruiting for emergency Registrars to work in the emergency departments of Royal Darwin and Palmerston Regional Hospital.
We are a cohesive, progressive team dedicated to excellence in patient care and training of ACEM trainees and junior doctors.
Royal Darwin Hospital is ACEM accredited as a major referral centre for two years of advanced emergency training. Palmerston Regional Hospital has accreditation for 6 months as a linked ED. We have well-established primary and fellowship teaching programs which incorporate weekly SIMS, OSCEs and many other opportunities to become involved in teaching. We are an accredited ALS course centre.
Royal Darwin Hospital is the tertiary referral centre for the north west of Australia, covering some of the most remote communities on earth, with a catchment area of over 1 million square kilometres. The case-mix is unique with a young population (average age 29), and the highest per capita rates of acute rheumatic fever, TB, blunt and penetrating trauma in Australia. Royal Darwin Hospital is affiliated with the Australian National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre for disaster operations in South East Asia and offers APLS, ALS, MIMMS, Australian Trauma Team Training and other courses.
Darwin is a vibrant, tropical, cosmopolitan city with a population of 200,000, boasting excellent access to world heritage national parks in Kakadu, Litchfield and the Kimberley. The lifestyle is laid back and friendly with an emphasis on outdoor leisure activities, particularly camping, bush walking, cycling, and fishing.
