Enel Green Power entered the Australian market in 2017 as Enel Green Power Australia (EGPA), with the construction of one of Australia’s largest solar plants, Bungala Solar Farm located in South Australia. Our Australian operations now include three solar plants with a consolidated capacity of around 310 megawatts (MW) and 75MW wind farm and 90MW solar farm under construction.

Today, Enel Green Power Australia is a 50/50 joint venture between energy giants, Enel Group and INPEX. The company is targeting a significant increase to its installed capacity across wind, solar, storage and hybrid projects which is expected to accelerate EGPA’s growth in the local market and continue its commitment to driving Australia’s energy transition and achieving the country’s net zero target.
The Role
The Energy Trader (NEM) is responsible for trading, hedging and managing of energy power standard products and options in NEM power markets, across different states. The role will join a global team responsible for the development of energy management and trading for an international energy company expanding in the Australian market. This position will cover liquidity, bid/ask spreads, correlation, risk measurement and participate in the start-up phase of energy trading.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor energy levels and term trading positions in different NEM states
- Generate positive P/L and capture market opportunities based on analysis of market conditions
- Promote market development to drive/enable market development and opportunities
- Create hedging solutions, manage contract negotiations, and deal structures
- Manage fundamental market conditions and drivers impacting the main power hubs
- Develop market research tools, market analysis and manage trading portfolios
- Build commercial relationships with brokers, banks/financial institutions, utilities
- Coordinate with structuring and origination team to identify, negotiate and implement trading positions
Selection Criteria
- Relevant qualifications in Economics/Engineering or Finance
- Deep understanding of fundamental market conditions and drivers impacting main power markets and related commodities in Australia
- Market knowledge in ASX/OTC energy forward market, compliance, energy business and data management
- Experience working in large international organization within matrix environment
- Valid NSW Driver’s license
