Brisbane is home to our corporate office which is where this role is based.About your new position:Your primary purpose will be to assist the Long-
Term Planning Superintendent McArthur River Mine (MRM) to ensure the safety, performance, and work quality of the
Long Term Planning Team. The
Long Term Planning Engineer is responsible for key business planning deliverables including the life of asset (LoA) plan and the estimation and reporting of Reserves as per the JORC Code for MRM.To deliver on that purpose some of your responsibilities will be:
- Responsible for developing mine plans and designs, considering factors such as deposit characteristics, geotechnical considerations, safety regulations and environmental impacts.
- Provide guidance and support to the site-based mining engineers to ensure medium and short Term Planning aligns with long range plans and company objectives.
- Develop the life of asset mine plan schedule in Deswik Sched and deliver Long Term strategic mine plan.
- Develop risk assessed and optimized mine designs including but not limited to open pit detailed designs and overburden emplacement facility designs in Deswik CAD.
- Perform reconciliation on executed mine plans to track design and operational performance for continuous improvement purposes.
- Ensure that any design and/or sequence changes are communicated and documented.
- Estimation of Reserves for McArthur River Mine for reporting as per the JORC Code.
- Analysis of operational data, conducting audits, and implementing strategies to optimise processes, reduce costs and maximise mineral recovery.
Our expectations about you:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering (or similar)
5 years of experience in open pit mining operations. * Advanced design and scheduling software skills, preferably with a working knowledge of Deswik.CAD and Deswik,Sched.
- Site visits (once a month) to MRM to collaborate and liaison with mine site tech services and planning team.
