Our Lihir operation in Mining Department is now recruiting for the position of Engineer – Mine Productionfor FIFO role based at our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO).

Reporting to the Production Superintendent, you’re required to provide technical mining expertise support to the Mine Production Superintendent and oversee the Mine Production Supervisor team to ensure maximum cost-effective Mine Production to safely meet targets and to resolve operational issues by working closely with technicians.

The role will have responsibility to:

• Proven commitment to maintaining a safe working environment, adhering to HSE regulations and protocols, and promoting a culture of safety among team members to minimize accidents and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Works constructively within a diverse group of people.
• Lead and motivate production teams, foster collaboration, and develop talent through coaching and mentoring, ensuring high levels of performance, morale, and engagement among team members.
• Effectively convey technical information, liaise with stakeholders, and build positive relationships with colleagues, contractors, and management, facilitating smooth operations and collaboration across departments.
• Ensures mine planning processes and plans incorporate Mine Production operational requirements.
• Ensure Daily plans are done in alignment with weekly and monthly plans to deliver the result.
• Ensures that equipment and production processes run safely and cost effectively.
• Develop daily plans in line with weekly plans.
• Designs, implements, and refines processes and systems for products and services.
• Works closely with production supervisors and oversees technicians to solve problems.
• Ensures project deadlines are met.
• Compares different materials to find the right balance of quality, quantity, and cost.

Essential criteria

Ideally, our preferred applicant will have;

• Tertiary Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering (Surface Mining).
• IEPNG Engineer Membership.
• PNG Driver's Licence - Class 6.
• Previous experience in delivery and assessment of training desirable.
• 3 – 5 years relevant work experience essential in large scale mining operations.
• Proven track record in analysing complex problems, identifying solutions, and making data-driven decisions to overcome operational challenges, optimize production processes, and mitigate risks effectively, ensuring operational efficiency and profitability.
• Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication, and public speaking skills.
• Computer proficiency in Minesight & Scheduling Software
• Sound planning, strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously.

The Requirements

• Must be available for FIFO to Lihir
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
• Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
