The Engineer – Renewables is responsible for delivering regulatory guidance and ensuring compliance in the large-scale renewable energy sector. You will be required to work in close collaboration with peers, Energy Safe leaders and industry to ensure that Energy Safe’s regulatory and safety management projects and initiatives are delivered in line with Energy Safe’s Regulatory Operations Strategy.Your responsibilities will include:
Reviewing and assessing external companies’ safety cases and safety management plans;
Leading the implementation and delivery of the annual audit plan, ensuring regulatory compliance amongst stakeholders;
Leading and participating in system assurance audits and operational audits;
Liaising with regulated entities to prepare audit plans and conduct pre-audit meetings;
Preparing audit tools and conducting audits (desktop or client sites);
Preparing formal reports of audit findings and providing feedback to industry in a timely manner;
Ensuring non-compliances are closed out and addressed to meet regulatory and legislative requirements;
Carrying out investigations and applying Energy Safe’s enforcement and compliance policy and making recommendations to Energy Safe management when applicable;
Delivering specialist regulatory tasks, including investigative audits that contribute to the improvement of regulatory compliance;
Providing advisory and consultative expertise on regulatory and safety requirements relevant to large scale wind and solar generation and grid scale batteries as a SME;
Responding to safety concerns and complaints received by Energy Safe;
Providing SME advice to key stakeholders; and
Participating in relevant committees and working groups with respect to audit and compliance.
To be successful, you will have:
An electrical engineering qualification;
Previous experience in the electricity or energy industry;
A strong understanding of the principles and application of safety management and knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and standards;
Experience leading and conducting audits and implementing Quality, Health, Safety and Risk Management frameworks;
Excellent conceptual and analytical skills;
High level interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
