Job Purpose:

Applied EV is looking for an experienced Quality Engineering Manager who can support the senior engineering leadership team establishing, managing, and maintaining quality systems, processes and records within the Engineering Organisation.

 The Role:

The Engineering Quality Manager will be responsible for:

  • Leading and managing all aspects of quality assurance and process improvement within Engineering.
  • Ensuring engineering related compliance with ISO9001, ASPICE and ISO26262 quality standards.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Overseeing the establishment and implementation of quality processes and standards within Engineering.
  • Understanding core business objectives, how it relates to engineering workflows and ensure the quality processes reflects a streamlined approach.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational quality objectives, this would include working closely with the engineering teams to author the required quality work processes and work products.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Assurance Strategy

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Engineering Quality assurance strategy that aligns with ISO9001, ASPICE and ISO26262 quality standards and supports organizational objectives.
  • Define quality metrics, KPIs, and benchmarks to measure performance and track progress over time.

Quality Processes and Standards:

  • Establish and maintain quality engineering processes, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance with ISO9001, ASPICE and ISO26262 requirements.
  • Define procedures, work instructions, and quality management systems to facilitate effective quality assurance and process improvement activities.

Quality Audits and Assessments:

  • Conduct internal audits and assessments to verify engineering compliance with ISO9001, ASPICE and ISO26262 quality standards and identify areas for improvement within Engineering – ensuring all documentation is completed to support certification.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and certification bodies to achieve and maintain ISO certification.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and innovation to streamline quality assurance processes and improve overall organizational performance.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide visibility into quality priorities, status, issues, and risks.

Risk Management:

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate quality risks associated with organizational processes, products, and services.

 Compliance Requirements:

  • Ensure engineering processes and practices comply with relevant quality standards and certifications, including ISO9001, ASPICE and ISO26262.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and standards updates to ensure ongoing compliance and adherence to best practices.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in quality assurance and process improvement, with a track record of success in managing ISO9001, ASPICE and ISO26262 quality processes.
  • A very strong understanding of quality management principles, methodologies, and tools, including auditing techniques and risk management practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capability in relation to work with globally dispersed teams.
  • An analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., CQM, CQE) or related field is a plus.
  • A strong understanding of ISO26262 functional safety – preferred.

Candidates must have existing full working rights for Australia.

This role is 100% in office in our state-of-the-art facilities in Scoresby.
