Job Description
The Safety/Quality Manager has a direct line of accountability to the Director of Engineering. The SQM is responsible for the maintenance, coordination and monitoring of Leidos Australia Airborne Solutions Engineering's SMS and QMS.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Hold safety as a core value and contribute to the achievement of a zero harm and incident/injury free environment through active participation in all safety program relevant to the position
- Be the Quality and Safety contact for all Engineering staff, promoting a culture that ensures Safety and compliance as the company’s number one priority
- Ensure that the Director of Engineering is kept properly informed on Safety and Quality matters
- Be responsible for the management and monitoring of Engineering's SMS and QMS
- Actively participates in Safety Review Meetings and Safety Action Groups
- Monitor current and proposed relevant legislation and update the Director of Engineering of any changes
- Actively seek to identify hazards and potential hazards - and safely manage them
- Actively encourage a pro-active safety reporting and Just Culture
- Issue, renew, revoke, suspend or restrict Certification Authorisations
- Be responsible for the production, coordination and management of a yearly audit schedule
- Ensure Safety and Quality audit findings are responded to in a timely manner and associated remedial and/or corrective actions are planned
- Ensure the adequacy of Engineering procedures in providing maintenance services in accordance with the regulations
- Interface with CASA and third party auditors with respect to audits and resolution of any identified non-compliance or non-conformance;
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Engineering
Educational/Vocational Qualifications
- Safety and Lead Auditor accreditation;
- Formal qualification in Quality Management;
- Bachelor of Aviation Management, or selected units of competency from the qualification, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience in a CASR Part 145 Approved Maintenance Organisation or equivalent;
- Experience in Safety and Quality management;
- Comprehensive knowledge of Safety/Quality Management Systems (SMS/QMS)
- CASA and other NAA regulations and policies
- Contemporary business management practices and principles
