Position Overview:

Reporting to the CEO, the Engineering Technologist will play a crucial role in supporting technical aspects of solar projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop solar power systems, including solar panels, inverters, and energy storage systems.
  • Conduct site assessments to determine optimal system configurations and layouts.
  • Prepare technical drawings and specifications for solar installation projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, electricians, and construction crews.
  • Perform cost estimation and develop budgets for solar projects.
  • Conduct performance testing and analysis of installed systems.
  • Connect electrical wiring to panels and inverters, and ensure systems are functioning properly.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of solar installations.
  • Install, maintain, and repair solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
  • Select appropriate materials and components for solar systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on installed solar PV systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and performance issues.
  • Replace defective components and update software as needed.
  • Calculate system size, energy production, and financial payback.
  • Select appropriate materials and components for solar systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Experience in solar PV system design and implementation.
  • Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD and PVsyst.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with solar PV system installation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of electrical wiring and photovoltaic systems.
