As part of our nursing team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide the worlds' best cancer care to patients who present to our outpatient clinics and pathology department.This would comprise of:

  • Working in and attending to patients who present to various tumour stream clinics.
  • Attending to complex post-operative wound management.
  • Assessing unwell patient and providing necessary interventions.
  • Supporting procedural clinics in our Urology and Head & Neck services
  • Supporting our See & Treat surgical services assisting with minor surgical procedures including biopsies, grafts and flaps.
  • Providing pathology services including venepuncture, cannulation, Central Venous Access Device assessments and dressings
  • Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive, patient centred service to Peter Macs patients

1.Management of Patient Care Continuum
1.1 Demonstrate expertise in clinical knowledge and practice in the care of patients with acute and/or cancer, and work within the nursing and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the provision of quality of care to all patients
1.2 Practice with direct or indirect supervision of the RN Division 1 in a complementary and collaborative role providing high quality nursing care
1.3 Facilitate access to health care by liaising with Peter Mac and other health care providers
1.4 Ensure continuity of care through application of principles of patient centred care and monitor patient responses throughout each intervention, adjusting care accordingly
1.5 Monitor and provide expert symptom management across the care continuum
1.6 Evaluate effectiveness of nursing care given
1.7 Demonstrate professional accountability related to work practice
1.8 Apply assessment skills which are context specific and relevant to care of the oncology patient •Responds to patient health status cues in a timely fashion
