About the Opportunity
The Surgical/Orthopaedic Ward at Fairfield Hospital are seeking committed, motivated and energetic Enrolled Nurses to become part of this highly regarded team.
You will be working with a highly supportive, driven team who work together to ensure consistent positive patient outcomes. You will have the opportunity to work with patients having had elective joint replacements as well as elective and emergency surgery. Working in this ward will provide you the opportunity to work with a large, multidisciplinary team and ensure you develop a wide range of nursing skills.
The fast paced nature of the Orthopaedic/Surgical space has a quick patient turnover where no two days are the same. You will see a diverse range of patients and work in a flexible, ever changing environment.
The ward is fortunate to be supported by the Whitlam Joint Replacement Centre and provides a range of learning opportunities. The NUM of the ward is highly supportive of professional development and being part of a smaller facility allows faster and more structured career progression.
The team has an dedicated CNE on staff who is ready to train junior nurses or those looking to make a start in the Orthopaedic field. This is a rare opportunity to join this dynamic team where you can bring your passion for nursing to make a true difference in the local community!

What You'll be Doing
The Enrolled Nurse works with the registered nurse or midwife as part of the health care team and demonstrates competence in the provision of safe, compassionate, quality person-centered care.

Fairfield hospital is located in one of NSW’s largest LGA’s and is a hub of diverse cultures, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. The hospital sits close to public transport (T-Way), Public Schools, a major shopping centre and has an onsite cafeteria. Ample onsite parking is available with only a short walk from the carpark to the hospital.
How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * Current Authority to Practice as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2), General with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Demonstrated recent experience as an Enrolled Nurse in an environment appropriate to the relevant speciality
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based nursing care
  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
