Your new role:

Reporting to the Regional EHS Partner (WA, VIC, TAS, SA NT), you'll play a pivotal role in delivering effective Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) managerial and technical support to Sims facilities throughout the South Australian region. Your primary focus will be fostering a safety-first culture rooted in care while upholding Sims' commitment to environmental stewardship. Your contributions will be instrumental in aligning EHS strategies and initiatives with our organizational objectives, ensuring timely and effective implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Coach operations in the effective implementation and use of the EHS management system and act as an escalation point for complex matters.
  • Support the implementation and operational understanding of EHS policy, standards, and procedures.
  • Conduct analysis from EHS data to facilitate management decision-making.
  • Work with operations on the effective use of EHS tools such as Risk Assessment and Critical Control Verification.
  • Participate in applicable internal and external audits and provide guidance on corrective actions.
  • Support the facilitation of EHS training.
  • Provide insight on process hazards, and risk rating on incidents, Safe Work Procedures, and Job Safety Environment Analysis
  • Manage worker’s compensation claims and the return-to-work process.

Essential Criteria:

  • A tertiary qualification in Environment, Health & Safety or above in a related field.
  • Previous experience with EHS incident investigation and return to work processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Leadership and training experience relating to job performance and Safety on the job.
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel within the South Australian region. With the ability to Travel to NT as required.
