About the Role:

We are seeking a Environmental Advisor who who enjoys a wide range of responsibilities, has experience in relevant environmental and / or planning disciplines, has a passion for renewable energy and is willing to grow within the role with guidance and mentoring provided working across our Development and Support Services businesses, you will work within our dedicated environmental team with like minded individuals.

The role also involves opportunities for communication and consultation with environmental and planning stakeholders, and Traditional Owner groups. in collaboration with our Partnerships Manager.

This role will include both office based and site based elements, including expectations for site visits to projects under construction or in operation.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assist the Environment Manager and Development Project Managers with the development and review of environmental documentation, including environmental design, planning applications and management plans.
  • Assist in the identification of environmental constraints and the identification of matters and areas requiring greater environmental and cultural heritage sensitivity and focus.
  • Assist in the management of state and commonwealth approvals process, including in the identification of and development of supporting scopes for specialist external consultants.
  • Assist with the development and rollout of Sustainability Reporting services for Support Services clients.
  • Assist with managing compliance obligations, including the engagement of specialist consultants and the development of supporting scopes of work.
  • Assist with the onsite supervision of environmental and heritage surveys and studies including environmental, cultural heritage and geotechnical surveys.
  • Assist with incident response processes, including incident investigation and reporting.
  • Attend Project Meetings on a regular basis and attend community information sessions for projects.
  • Assist in providing regular 'good news stories' for the business.

Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of issues and drivers for renewable energy development in Australia.
  • Knowledge of the EPBC Act 1999 Referral Process along with the various state government acts and processes relating to biodiversity impact approvals.
  • Up to date knowledge of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
  • Attention to detail and a self-starter to effectively manage and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. An ability to identify key priorities.
  • Working knowledge of Queensland and or New South Wales Planning processes.
  • Formal education in Environmental Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience in this field.
  • Familiar with mapping software - Google Earth at a minimum.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally as the role demands.
