About the role
As a result of rapid growth, SKIPZ is on the lookout for a full-time on-site Environmental, Health and Safety Manager.
In this critical role you will use your knowledge and expertise to provide ongoing guidance and support to all areas of our business. This will be achieved by partnering with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring that all SKIPZ teams are aware of, and meeting, requirements.
This role is based in Hawthorn, with two operational sites in Melbourne and one in Brisbane.
The role provides an opportunity to lead the strategic overview of EH&S, reporting directly into the Managing Director, whilst also maintaining a hands-on approach to working alongside our transport and recycling operations teams - by leading, training and guiding them, and supporting incident investigations and site audits.
This role will be the key contact point for our business when dealing with external statutory bodies and government agencies.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure all systems, documentation, policies and procedures are in place and improved where required.
- Provide leadership and advice to our internal operational teams, to enable them to achieve business goals.
- Building and maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies
- Provide strategic guidance to the management team.
- Ensure all sites are compliant to all required regulations.
- Report to management and board on all EH&S items.
Key challenges of the role:
- Balancing day-to-day activities with the demands of ongoing business improvement projects.
- Enacting change within internal teams.
- Identifying and implementing safety improvements.
- Maintaining strong relationships with external parties.
About you
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environment Health and Safety, or a related field is preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office.
- Strong operational environment experience in Environment Health and Safety, including knowledge of NHVR requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to influence.
- Proven project and change management experience.
- Experience in the waste management and recycling industry is a plus.
