What you'll be doing
To work within the Environmental Health team of North Coast Population & Public Health (NCPPH) and work in partnership with other agencies, groups and stakeholders to provide advice, information, surveillance, interpretation and skills to support the delivery of operational Environmental Health activities on behalf of the Mid North Coast and Northern NSW Local Health Districts, North Coast Population & Public Health and NSW Ministry of Health.
Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identify as being Aboriginal and be accepted in the community as such. All applicants must supply either a letter of Aboriginality signed under the common seal from a recognised incorporated Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community organisation such as Land Council or Elders group, Aboriginal Medical Service or a letter on letterhead from a Local Aboriginal Land Council demonstrating membership of the Council.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine, which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course).
New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) immunisation history statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

- Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in Environmental Health, or equivalent qualifications and experience with highly developed and effective interpersonal, management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of public health related legislation and demonstrated experience in its use to promote and protect Environmental/Public Health
- Experience in the design, preparation, marketing, implementation and evaluation of programs to prevent, investigate, control and manage Environmental/Public Health hazards and risks.
- Understanding of the operation, interaction and responsibilities of Local Government, Local Health Districts and other relevant government and non-government agencies regarding Environmental/Public Health matters
- Proven ability to develop and maintain productive partnerships for achievement of shared goals.
- Demonstrated high level written and oral communication skills and computer skills within a common office environment - (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
- Highly developed and effective interpersonal, management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
