The Port of Newcastle is developing a Clean Energy Precinct, a transformative project converting a 220-hectare industrial site into a dedicated Clean Energy hub. This initiative aims to position Newcastle and the Hunter region as a leader in producing, storing, and exporting Clean Energy technologies, including hydrogen and green ammonia.
YOUR NEW JOB
As an Environmental Planner, you will play a crucial role in shaping the Clean Energy Precinct's environmental strategy. Be at the forefront, ensuring the project meets the highest environmental standards for future generations. Here’s a snapshot of what you’ll be doing:
- Lead Environmental Planning: Manage the implementation of environmental plans and develop detailed strategies.
- Strategic Programs: Chair working groups and deliver against critical timelines in collaboration with the General Counsel and Executive Manager Infrastructure Services.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Implement processes for regulatory compliance, manage environmental risks, and stay ahead of new regulations.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government and port users.
- Project Management: Oversee external consultants, ensure projects deliver value for money, and manage the environmental aspects of construction and operations.
- Reporting and Advice: Provide timely, accurate advice on environmental issues, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Science, or a related field.
- An understanding of NSW environmental legislation, experience with contaminated land and asbestos management, and strong skills in environmental monitoring, management, and impact assessment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in managing consultants and projects, dealing with regulatory agencies, and maintaining high attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative, organised, and methodical.
- Experience managing high-profile infrastructure projects.
