The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of an organisation dedicated to leading Australia's clean energy transition, building the energy super-highways and enabling nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
The Victoria to NSW Interconnector West - known as VNI West - is a proposed new 500 kV double circuit transmission line connecting the high voltage electricity grids in New South Wales and Victoria.
VNI West is being jointly developed with Transmission Company Victoria (TCV) and will connect major projects EnergyConnect in NSW and Western Renewables Link in Victoria. The preferred option runs from Transgrid's Dinawan substation north of Jerilderie in NSW to new substations proposed near Kerang and Bulgana in Victoria.
VNI West is a core component and priority project in the Australian Energy Market Operator's (AEMO) 2022 Intergrated System Plan, which confirms the need for both short- and longer-term investment, to increase the transfer capacity between states in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
As the Environmental Planner you will assist the VNI West Environmental Approvals team delivering outputs associated with the planning approval for the project.
The role is responsible for:
- Providing advice on planning approvals and environmental issues.
- Technical review of environmental assessment documentation in an efficient, timely and complete manner.
- Managing interfaces with the VNI West project team to obtain quality information in a timely manner to support the environmental assessment documentation.
- Engaging with external stakeholders, including customers, communities, and government entities as required.
- Assisting the Environmental Approvals team with managing the scope and program of work of the assigned external environmental consultant and ensure the delivery of documentation/deliverables is on time and to a suitable standard.
The position reports to the Environmental Planning Manager. You will also collaborate closely with environmental team members across delivery, other major projects and the Land, Property and Approvals business unit.
