About the position
ALS Environmental has a unique opportunity for a Full-time Field Technician to join our Chinchilla based team. This position is an important Field Technician role working to support prestigious CSG Clients and requires a highly motivated individual with an eagerness to learn. In return, we will invest immediately and extensively in your formal and on the job development providing training access to First aid and defensive 4wd driving courses and expansive on the job training on our testing methods, sample protocols and reporting format for our Clients.
The successful applicant will be based in Chinchilla (FIFO not offered) and is responsible for completing field sampling services within the Surat and Bowen Basin regions. Primary tasks will include:
- Driving light vehicles with various specialised field monitoring equipment
- Inputting important information to various data platforms
- Monitoring and maintaining equipment (both hardware and software)
- Maintaining and building on relationships with Land Access supervisors, Field Superintendents and Area Owners
- Complying with specific Land Access Rules
- CSG water and gas sampling
- Potable water sampling
- Water Treatment Plant sampling
- Environmental sampling
- Permit creation and management
- Identifying opportunities with our Client Services team to expand or improve our Client services and scope where applicable from your on the ground observations and insights.
To be successful, you will have:
- A current manual driver’s license
- Field experience in the CSG Industry is desired but not essential
- Industry Safety Induction for the CSG Industry or equivalent desired but not essential
- Personal/Mechanical Isolation experience desired but not essential
- Experience in work permit creation and management desired but not essential
- Strong communication skills
- Good written and verbal ability, and rapport building strength to nurture strong relationships with clients
- Good organisational skills
- Local knowledge of the Darling Downs, Surat and Bowen Basin regions is desired but not essential
- A ‘can do’ attitude
The standard working days are Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm. As rostered, a once a month average weekend roster is expected but not guaranteed, at weekend rates.

The position may require working over weekends and staying in remote camps from time to time.
