Environmental Scientist - Land Resources Graduate

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Environmental Scientist with a specialisation in Soil Science and/or Land Resources to join our team. As a Land Resources Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the environmental sustainability of our dredging projects, particularly in managing Land Resources and mitigating environmental impacts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of Land Resources and environmental conditions at biosolids reuse sites.
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders throughout land application and incorporation activities.
- Develop and implement strategies for sustainable land use and management throughout project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate environmental considerations into project costing, planning and execution.
- Design and oversee environmental monitoring programs to assess the effectiveness of dredging and dewatering activities on Land Resources.
- Evaluate regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with environmental standards and permits.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on land resource management practices to project stakeholders.
- Participate in surveys of resources ahead of dredging to determine quantities, contamination, and suitability for reuse.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Land Resources Management, or related field.
- Strong academic background in soil science, ecology, hydrology, or geology preferred.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and best management practices related to Land Resources and biosolids management.
- Experience conducting field assessments and environmental impact assessments.
- Proficiency in GIS, and other relevant software applications.
- Excellent analytical, written, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability principles.
- Full Australian Driving licence
- General Boat Driving Licence preferred, but not essential.
