About the RoleTronox is seeking an Environmental Technician to join our Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) team based at our Cooljarloo mine site located near Cataby, WA (170km north of Perth).
This position is offered on a permanent basis, working 38 hours a week with a compressed 9-day fortnight option.
As the Environmental technician, you help monitor and mitigate environmental impacts, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting healthier ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Monitoring: Conduct environmental monitoring related to air, water, noise, and radiation.
- Database Maintenance: Manage the environmental monitoring database (ESdat) and maintain procedures, manuals, management plans, and records.
- Laboratory Work: Perform basic laboratory analyses of water samples and manage logistics for samples sent to NATA accredited labs.
- Reporting: Generate reports, data, graphs, and records using computer systems.
- Inspections: Assist in coordinating environmental inspections and ensure follow-up on recommendations.
- Contractor Assistance: Support contractors in environmental monitoring and management activities.
- Pollution Data Collection: Collect pollution data and report on sustainability metrics.
- Biodiversity Conservation: Engage in activities such as weed control and pest species management.
- Passion for the Environment: you will have a deep appreciation for nature and a desire to protect it. This role allows you to directly contribute to our conservation and sustainability efforts.
- Technical Skills: Strong computer knowledge with competency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Safety Focused: The ability to diligently follow safe working procedures
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an Environmental Technician role, undertaking environmental sampling, data analysis, and reporting
- Equipment: Experience in the use of environmental monitoring equipment and systems is advantageous
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data collection and reporting.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Adaptability: Ability to handle various tasks, from fieldwork to lab analysis and database management.
- Time Management: Sound organisational and time management skills.
- Qualifications: Certificates or Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field. (Would be advantageous)
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of environmental legislation and compliance requirements. (Would be advantageous)
