Youth Empowered Towards Independence (YETI) is a community-based not-for-profit organisation that delivers a range of voluntary youth AOD and other support services targeting the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people living within the Cairns and FNQ region.
We are seeking experienced Youth Support Workers to join our passionate Casual pool where you'll be rostered onto shifts spanning Monday to Saturday, with a variety of times and work types potentially available across YETI, for example:
- Day Program operates 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday
- Community Youth Response & Diversionary operates Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings 4pm to 10pm
- Youth transport 8am to 11am Monday to Friday
To apply to join our Casual pool, you will have:
- Tertiary and/or vocational qualification/s in a relevant discipline, or studying towards
- Some experience working with disadvantaged and vulnerable young people with an understanding of, and sensitivity to, the needs and issues facing young people with significant trauma backgrounds, complex needs/issues and high-risk behaviours
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and culture, and an understanding of the diverse circumstances and issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- A current Qld driver’s licence
Working knowledge of an industry Service Records System (SRS) for case notes and accessing client information would be an advantage.
Successful applicants must also meet the following criteria:
- Eligibility for a Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or exemption based on professional qualifications and registration.
- Evidence of eligibility to legally work in Australia.
