Job description

Support claims approval team and claims delivery team to resolve technical building matters that arise during the claim's approval process and rectification delivery process. Support the relationship between QBCC and Service Providers related to technical matters for building rectification and the relationship of homeowners and rectifying builders where queries or disputes arise related to approved rectification works. Support Building Inspectors in claims case management and the Claims approval team in the investigation of complex complaints regarding Scope of works, building rectification and other technical enquiries related to the claim's approval and rectification delivery.Job details Position status Fixed Term Temporary

Access theWork flexibly from either Brisbane or one of our regional centres; Cairns, Gold Coast, Mackay, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Townsville, Sunshine Coast (subject to office availability).Key outcomes/AccountabilitiesThe aim of this role is to:

  • Assist in the program of work to ensure the claims handling performance targets set by the Insurance Committee are achieved.
  • Contribute to the claims team reporting function including the recording of number of technical advice given and other outcomes as required.
  • Ensuring staff are provided with appropriate guidance, feedback, training, support and assistance regarding technical matters
  • Contribute to the adminsitration of the service provider arrangements including expert technical advice and co-ordinate legal service providers.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and review of terms of cover, policies, procedures and systems.
  • Manage a case load including conducting investigations and preparation of detailed reports regarding complaints in relation to defective building work.
  • Administer the regulatory provisions of the QBCC Act 1991 including referring for disciplinary action against building practitioners.
  • Interpret and apply the requirements of the Building Act 1975, the Building Code of Australia and associated Australian Standards.
  • Prepare reports and statements for disciplinary proceedings and give evidence before the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and other Courts.
Candidate attributesThe ideal candidate will have: * A) Currently hold a builders licence from QBCC in Queensland. Mandatory
  • B) Possess a Current Driver's Licence (Motor Vehicle) and have a good driving record. Mandatory
  • Achieves results by providing high level guidance on the application of legislation, policies and procedures and building organisational capability and responsiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and communicate with the team to bring in consistencies on approach to claims processes.
  • Be able to apply contemporary building standards, practices, legislation and codes within the construction industry, including demonstrated ability to supervise the performance of all building work.
  • Have high level interpersonal, consultative, negotiation and mediation skills as well as investigative, analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to manage cases particularly related to a highly technical environment.
